Travel Guide

Charter a luxury crewed yacht in New Zealand, this tiny island nation is bursting with raw beauty and an incredible natural environment. With gorgeous green mountains, crystal clear waters, an abundance of wildlife, and a robust yachting community, there is a wide array of activities for every traveller.

Sailing here is historic, the best of the best come to these waters to compete in national and international regattas throughout the year. Auckland, the largest city, is nicknamed ‘the City of Sails’... sailing is firmly embedded in their culture.

In March of 2021, the 36th America’s Cup will be hosted by Prada- the perfect excuse to visit these pristine sailing grounds. First held in 1851, the coveted America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in international sport. Steeped in tradition, what better way to feel the energy of this exciting event than from your own private yacht!

Whether you come for the excitement of racing, to experience the dramatic scenery, adventurous sports, or to find true peace, charters tailor-made to you offer the perfect opportunity to explore this region.

From Auckland, sail the Hauraki Gulf and experience the hospitality and fabulous wine island of Waiheke with Man O’ War and Mudbrick Vineyards. A day in the stunningly beautiful Whakanewha Regional Park will bring peace from nature. Surrounded by clear waters, Rotoroa, Ponui, Rangitoto, Motutapu, and Rakino islands are vibrant and stunningly beautiful.

With lush hillsides dropping down to the sea, the Coromandel Peninsula is a dream. The towns of Tairua, Waihi, and Hahei welcome you to relax and explore. The surf town of Whangamatā has a chill vibe and is great to get in a surf… or, head out to Hauturu Island just off the coast and spend the day kayaking. Onemana Beach is a hidden gem ideal for snorkeling and diving. Stop in to Paeroa for their famous Lemon and Paeroa, or an L&P, a soft drink originating from this little town.

Sail out to the Mercury Islands and explore the larger Ahuahu (Great Mercury Island), Kawhitu (Stanley Island), and Whakau (Red Mercury Island). Poke around the many smaller islands such as Korapuki Island, Green Island, and Atiu (MiddleIsland) and enjoy the gorgeous waters and verdant lands.

The stunning natural landscape, friendly communities, and abundance of activities combine to create this incredible island nation. Be welcomed and experience the natural wonders of New Zealand- come, adventure awaits!

What are the best times to travel to New Zealand?

The best time to visit New Zealand is the austral summer, from December to March, since it is pleasantly warm on the North Island and cool on the South Island. If you want to visit the country in winter, for example in August, you can choose the North Island, which is milder and more sheltered from cold waves, and maybe you can combine the exploration of the cities with a bit of skiing in the mountains.

What to pack on your Yachting Vacations in New Zealand?

In summer (December to February): for the North Island, Auckland, and Wellington, and the South Island down to Christchurch, bring light clothes for the day, a sweatshirt and a light jacket for the evening, and a raincoat or umbrella. For the south, spring/autumn clothes, a sweater, and a raincoat or umbrella. For the Southern Alps, warm mountain clothing.
