While traditional cruises will head to the more populated ports- on your charter, you can escape the crowds and head to tranquil coves and enchanting little islands.
Spectacular views are everywhere on a sail in the Dodecanese- Kos and Rhodes are two of many spectacular islands. But make certain to include Lipsi, this must see island is a definite up and coming hot spot!
In keeping closer to Athens, sail the beautiful Saronic islands and Peloponnese Peninsula. Hydra, this gorgeous island devoid of cars and motorcycles, is a lovely escape. Stop in at the ports of Spetses and Poros… then sail around the Peloponnese Peninsula enjoying the famous beach of Elafonisos and the historical town of Kythira. Nafplio, a stunning coastal town rich in history, is guarded over by the Palamidi fortress high on the hill and from the Bourtzi Castle on an island off the coast. Nafplio was the capital of both the First Hellenic Republic and the Kingdom of Greece.
And who hasn’t dreamed of visiting Skopelos, a beautiful island in the Sporades made famous by the movie Mamma Mia! Dance and experience the joy of life here and on other islands dotting the Sporades such as Skiathos and Skyros.
Lastly, and certainly not least, the calm Ionian Sea offers spectacular islands surrounded but intensely blue waters. From the well-known island of Corfu to Kefalonia, Lefkas, Zakynthos, Ithaki, and Paxi you will find peace and well-being throughout your charter. What are the best times to travel to Greece?
The best period for a beach holiday is the long summer, from early June to mid-September. In this period, there are no clouds in the sky for long periods, the heat is at times intense, but on coasts and islands it is tempered by the breeze. In the Aegean Sea, as mentioned, the Meltemi often blows. The best seasons for visiting historic and archaeological sites and cities are spring and autumn. Summer is often too hot, especially in the mainland, and in July and August. However, June and September can be hot as well, with average highs around 28/30 °C (82/86 °F) in the capital.
What to pack on your Yachting Vacations in Greece?
In summer bring light clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, a light scarf and a sweatshirt for the evening, especially on the islands of the Aegean Sea, where the Meltemi blows. In the mountains, you can bring a sweater, a jacket, hiking shoes, a raincoat or umbrella.
